Venturi Stretch
VENTURI Stretch clothing - exclusively available from Schöffel – combines protection and functionality with a very high level of elasticity, thanks to an efficient laminate. Waterproof [(min. 10,000mm) – depending on the model] – windproof – breathable – stretch.
Why is Venturi water- and windproof?
The sealed membrane has no openings or pores through which wind or water can penetrate. Venturi is hydrophilic or water-friendly. Hydrophilic fibres attract the moisture and absorb it. In combination with hydrophobic or water-repellent fibres, this leads to outstanding moisture transfer. With a water column of 10,000 mm, Schöffel exceeds the 1,300 mm DIN standard for waterproofness by a wide margin. In addition, all seams are bonded with a special tape and all zips are sealed.
Venturi Stretch obviously offers all the properties of standard Venturi clothing in addition to maximum stretch properties. This material allows an even better fit, more freedom of movement and close-fitting designs with maximum function.

Why is Venturi breathable?
The structure of Venturi displays both coarse and fine molecule compounds. The coarse molecule structures allow moisture vapour to escape, provided that there is a moisture vapour differential, with moisture vapour molecules moving from a place where there is a high concentration to a place where there is a low concentration. A second prerequisite is the temperature differential, i.e. the outside temperature must be lower than the temperature inside the item of clothing. This transfer of moisture vapour is known as breathability.
The durability of each item of clothing depends on proper care. For this reason please always follow the sewn-in label. Regular care has a positive effect on the durability of the membrane.
WASHING
Read the instructions on the care label. Before washing, close all zips, Velcro fastenings and press studs and turn the item inside out. If washing a (2-in-1) jacket with detachable zip-in, the latter will have its own separate care label. Unless otherwise indicated, wash on a gentle cycle at 30°C or 40°C – according to the label – using liquid detergent specifically for membrane clothing (available in specialist sports shops). Rinse thoroughly in clear water to remove any detergent residue. Never use fabric softener. After washing, spin briefly at the gentlest setting. Wash similar colours together.
BLEACH
Do not use bleach. Use only mild detergent. When using stain remover, read the label to make sure the product does not contain any chlorine or oxygen bleach.
TUMBLE DRYERS
Please follow the instructions on the care label sewn into the product: Some clothing with Venturi membranes is not suitable for tumble drying, some is suitable if the dryer is not too full and is set to a low temperature.
DRY CLEANING

IRONING
Iron on the lowest setting, if necessary. Place a cloth between the garment and the iron and only apply minimum pressure.
WATERPROOFING
Waterproofing is one of the key requirements to maintain membrane performance. Adequately waterproofed clothing repels dirt and water while at the same time protecting the membrane. What is more, heat is lost when the outer fabric is drenched; as such, good waterproofing also protects against the cold.
The outer fabrics of our clothing are waterproofed during the manufacturing process. This waterproofing can be reactivated by heating the garment in the tumble dryer (if allowed – read the label). Waterproofing is not, however, permanent. The garment should therefore be regularly treated after every 2-3 washes with suitable special (silicone-free) waterproofing agent – available in specialist sports shops. Renewed waterproofing is essential, at the very latest, when water no longer drips off the outer fabric and the garment feels damp.
Waterproofing spray is ideal as it allows you to control the treatment of the outer fabric. You can reactivate the waterproofing effect by applying heat, for example with a hair dryer on a low setting held about 10-15 cm away, or putting the garment briefly into the tumble dryer on the lowest setting (if allowed – read the label). First apply heat to the dry garment, then apply the waterproofing agent, then apply heat again.
Tip:
Use a small amount of detergent often rather than a lot occasionally.
Tip for removing stubborn stains Stubborn stains or heavily soiled parts (e.g. cuffs or collars) are best treated with liquid gall soap. Carefully rub the soap into the affected areas, leave it to work for a short while before washing the jacket as instructed on the care label. Please do not use commercial stain removers. They may contain chlorine and/or oxygen bleach which can damage the membrane beyond repair.
